ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

PASSPORTS
Your passport should be valid for at least 6 months beyond the period of stay. It is advised to have 1 blank page in your passport. Please be sure to fill out the “Emergency Next of Kin” section in your passport.
VISAS
UK, US, Canadian and most EU citizens do not need a visa for short stays (up to 90 days within a 180-day period) in Slovenia, which is part of the Schengen Area.
Note: Visa and entry requirements, regulations, and restrictions can change. Ensure you check the current requirements well in advance of travel.
It is your responsibility to ensure you have the necessary travel documentation prior to departure.
TRAVEL INSURANCE
All passengers must have valid travel insurance before traveling, including health and cancellation insurance. Please ensure you have a copy of your insurer’s 24-hour emergency telephone number and your policy number.
MEDICAL CONDITIONS & PERSONAL MEDICATION
Please advise us before travel if you have any medical conditions requiring special attention during your trip. If you have a specific medical condition, it is wise to carry the relevant doctor’s prescription with you.
TRAVELLING WITH CPAP OR OTHER MEDICAL DEVICES
If you require CPAP or similar medical equipment, please notify The Big Journey Company at the time of booking. If distilled or ionised water is required, please let us know in advance so that our ground agents can prepare. Additional charges may apply.
LUGGAGE
What to Pack and Wear:
Slovenia enjoys warm, sunny days in summer with cooler evenings and occasional rain. We recommend:
• Lightweight clothing for warm weather
• A light jacket or sweater for evenings
• A waterproof jacket or umbrella
• Comfortable walking shoes
• Swimwear for lakes or hotel pools
• Smart casual attire for evening meals if desired
• Don’t forget your camera, charger, spare batteries, and memory cards
Luggage Allowances:
International airlines have strict policies regarding the size and weight of checked-in baggage and carry-on luggage. Before your departure, please contact your airline or visit their website for specific luggage requirements. Size and weight limitations vary according to the airline and destination.
LANGUAGE
Slovene is the official language of Slovenia. English is widely spoken in tourist areas.
WEATHER
Slovenia has a continental climate with warm summers and cold winters. In June, average temperatures range from 15°C (59°F) in the mornings to 26°C (79°F) during the day. Rain is possible, so pack accordingly.
ELECTRICITY
Slovenia operates on a 230V supply voltage and 50Hz. There are two standard plug types - type C with two round pins and type F with two round pins and earth clips on the side. You may need a plug adapter and/or converter depending on which electrical appliances you bring with you.
MOBILES & INTERNET COMMUNICATION
Mobile coverage is widely available across Slovenia. Be sure to check with your mobile provider for coverage and rates, as data roaming can be extremely expensive.
MONEY
Currency:
The currency of Slovenia is the Euro (EUR). Credit and debit cards are widely accepted, but it’s a good idea to carry some cash for smaller purchases. ATMs are common in cities and towns. Expect a service fee for ATM withdrawals. Visa and Mastercard are widely accepted, with most high-end hotels also accepting American Express. Contact your bank before traveling to avoid issues with card use, and carry your bank’s international contact details in case of fraud concerns.

WATER
Tap water in Slovenia is safe to drink and of very high quality. Bottled water is widely available, but not necessary in most locations.
SAFETY & SECURITY
Slovenia is a very safe country to visit. As with any destination, tourists should remain aware of their surroundings and take precautions to avoid petty theft, particularly in busy areas.
RELIGION
The majority religion in Slovenia is Roman Catholicism. Religious tolerance is widely observed and respected.
PHOTOGRAPHY
Slovenia offers endless photo opportunities—from lakes and castles to mountains and historic towns.

ARRIVAL IN SLOVENIA
Please note, standard hotel check-in is around 3pm. If arriving earlier than this, your room may not be available upon arrival. For those arriving early morning, we do everything we can to work with the hotel to get you an earlier check-in subject to availability.
